Aircon general servicing in Singapore
General servicing is the routine clean a unit needs roughly every three months. It is not a repair and it is not an overhaul — it keeps a working unit working, and it is the cheapest thing you can do to avoid the other two.
A unit that has not been serviced in a year will usually still switch on. What it does instead is cool more slowly, run longer to reach the same temperature, and start to smell. The dust sitting on the blower wheel and the evaporator coil is doing all three.

What happens on the visit
We lay up before anything comes off
Drop cloth down under the unit and over anything below it. Aircon dust is greasy and it stains — most of the mess in a bad service happens in the first two minutes.
Filters and front cover come out and get washed
Both go out to be washed properly with water, not wiped in place. A filter that is only brushed off puts most of the dust straight back into the room when the fan restarts.
Blower wheel, where the model allows
The barrel fan behind the coil is where the worst of it collects, and it is the part most often skipped because it takes the longest. Some models do not allow access without a full strip-down — if yours is one, we will tell you on the day rather than charge for something we cannot reach.
Drainage pipe vacuumed and water tray cleared
The most common cause of a leaking unit is a drain line that has silted up. Clearing it during a routine service is the single thing most likely to save you a repair call later.
Run it and check the temperature
Unit goes back together, runs, and we check it is actually blowing cold before we leave. We tell you anything we noticed — a worn bearing, a slow drain, gas that looks low — without turning it into a sales pitch.

Book a service if
- It has been three months or more since the last one
- The room takes noticeably longer to cool than it used to
- There is a musty smell when it first switches on
- The airflow feels weaker than you remember
- You can see grey fuzz on the fins through the front grille
Commercial premises
Offices, shops and F&B units are quoted per visit rather than off the residential ladder, because the unit types and access differ. Send us a photo of what you have and we will price it before we come.
Common questions
- How long does a general service take?
- About 20 to 30 minutes per unit for a standard wall-mounted one. Six units in a flat is usually under two hours.
- Do I need to be home?
- Someone needs to let us in and be there when we leave, so you can see the units running. It does not have to be you.
- Will servicing fix a unit that is not cooling?
- Sometimes — if the cause is a clogged filter or coil, cleaning it will bring the cooling back. If the cause is low gas or a failed part, servicing will not fix it, and we will tell you that on the day rather than after taking payment.
Might not be what you need
Plenty of people land on the wrong page. If either of these sounds closer, follow it — we would rather you booked the right job than the expensive one.
- Aircon chemical overhaul in SingaporeWhen a routine clean no longer brings the cooling back, the fouling is bonded on and needs chemical.
- Aircon repair in SingaporeIf it is leaking, blinking or not cooling at all, cleaning will not fix it.
