Aircon chemical overhaul in Singapore

A chemical overhaul is the full strip-down. The unit comes off the wall, comes apart, and every component is chemically flushed rather than wiped — coil, blower wheel, casing, drainage tray. It is the deepest clean a unit can get without replacing anything.

It is worth doing about once a year, and it is what to reach for when regular servicing has stopped bringing the cooling back. If a unit is still weak a week after a general service, the fouling is bonded to the coil fins and washing will not shift it.

What happens on the visit

  1. The unit comes off the wall

Not opened in place — removed. Everything after this happens where we can see all sides of the part we are working on.

  2. Full dismantle

Casing, blower wheel, coil, drainage tray and fan motor all separated. This is the point at which we can tell you honestly whether a part is worn, because we are holding it.

  3. Chemical flush

Each part is treated and flushed rather than wiped. Chemical lifts the bonded grime between the coil fins that water alone runs straight past — that is the whole reason this costs more than a service.

  4. Drainage system cleared end to end

The full line, not just the accessible section. Overhaul is the one time the entire drain path is open, so it is the right moment to do it.

  5. Reassembled, remounted and tested

Back together, back on the wall, and run until we can measure that it is cooling properly. You see it running before we pack up.

An overhaul is the right call if

Commercial premises

Ceiling cassettes and VRV/VRF systems are overhauled too, but quoted per site — access and unit count drive the price more than anything else. We will look at photos and give you a figure before booking.

Common questions

How much does a chemical overhaul cost?
$130 for the first unit and a promotional $88 for each unit after, with no GST added. Six units works out at $570.
How long does it take?
Around an hour per unit, sometimes longer on a ceiling cassette. It is a slower job than a service because the unit is fully dismantled.
Do I need an overhaul or just a service?
If the unit still cools well and you are keeping it that way, a general service every three months is enough. Reach for an overhaul when servicing has stopped restoring performance, or once a year as a reset.
Is a chemical overhaul the same as a chemical wash?
No. A chemical wash cleans the unit with chemical while it stays on the wall. An overhaul removes and dismantles it completely. We do overhauls — we do not offer chemical wash.
