How much does aircon servicing cost in Singapore?
Between $20 and $50 a unit for a general service, and almost all of that spread comes down to how many units are done in one visit. Below is what each job costs, what moves the number, and what to ask before anyone comes out.
What each job costs
| Service | Cost | When you need it |
|---|---|---|
| General servicing | $20 – $50 per unit | Every three to four months on a unit in normal use. |
| Chemical overhaul | $130 first unit, $88 after | When a unit stopped cooling after an ordinary clean, or has gone a year or more. |
| Gas top-up | Quoted after diagnosis | Low refrigerant almost always means a leak, and the leak has to be found first. |
| Repair | $50 call-out | Not cooling, leaking, tripping the breaker, grinding or buzzing. |
| Installation | Quoted per site | New units, replacements, and moving an existing set. |
No GST on any of it — LM is not GST-registered, so the quoted figure is the figure paid. Every job carries a 90-day workmanship warranty.
Why the per-unit price falls as you add units
Driving out, laying up and packing down costs the same whether we clean one fan coil or six. Only the cleaning time scales, so the more units in a single visit, the less each one carries of the fixed cost.
| Units | Total per visit | Works out at |
|---|---|---|
| 1 unit | $50 | $50 a unit |
| 2 units | $60 | $30 a unit |
| 3 units | $75 | $25 a unit |
| 4 units | $90 | $22.50 a unit |
| 5 units | $110 | $22 a unit |
| 6 units | $120 | $20 a unit |

What actually moves the price
- How many units you do at once
- This moves the price more than anything else. One unit is $50; 6 units is $120, which works out at $20 each. The travel, the setting up and the packing down cost the same whether we clean one fan coil or six, so those costs spread. If a neighbour needs theirs done, doing both visits together is the cheapest aircon servicing anyone can honestly offer you.
- How long since the last service
- A unit cleaned every three months needs a general service. A unit that has gone a year or more usually has grime baked onto the fins and inside the blower wheel, and washing it in place will not shift it — that is a chemical overhaul at $130 for the first unit. Waiting does not save money; it changes which service you need.
- What is actually wrong
- Cleaning and repair are priced differently and get confused constantly. If the unit is dirty, it is a cleaning job at a published price. If it is not cooling, leaking from the body, tripping the breaker or making a grinding noise, it needs diagnosing first — $50, and not charged at all if we carry out the repair.
- The type of unit
- Wall-mounted fan coils are the standard residential unit and what published prices assume. Ceiling cassettes have to come down from the ceiling, ducted systems need panel access, and both take longer, so they are quoted per site rather than off a list. Anyone quoting a cassette at the wall-mounted rate has not asked what you have.
- Whether GST applies
- A price quoted before GST becomes 9% more at the door. LM is not GST-registered, so the number quoted is the number paid — but when you compare quotes, check whether the other one includes it, because that alone can account for the gap.
What a fair quote looks like

Four things worth asking before you book
- A price that only appears after the inspection
- Routine servicing is a known job on a known unit type. A company that will not put a figure on it until a technician is standing in your living room has left itself room to move, and the direction it moves is never down.
- A cheap headline rate with a minimum unit count buried underneath
- "From $20 a unit" is true at 6 units and nowhere else — including here. Ask what one unit costs. If the answer is much higher than the headline suggested, the headline was for someone else.
- An overhaul recommended on a unit that has never been serviced
- An overhaul is the right call for a unit that stopped cooling after an ordinary clean, or one neglected for a year or more. Recommending one sight-unseen, on a unit that just needs a wash, is the most common upsell in this trade.
- A call-out fee nobody mentioned
- A diagnostic fee is fair — someone drove out and spent time finding the fault. What is not fair is hearing about it when the work is done. Ask before booking: how much is the call-out, and is it waived if you do the repair?
Common questions about cost
- How much does aircon servicing cost in Singapore?
- For a standard wall-mounted unit, expect roughly $20 to $50 per unit for general servicing, depending almost entirely on how many units are done in one visit. At LM it is $50 for one unit and $120 for 6 — $20 each. A chemical overhaul is a different job and costs $130 for the first unit, $88 for each one after.
- Why do aircon servicing prices vary so much between companies?
- Three reasons account for most of it. GST — 9% on top, unless the company is not registered for it. Unit count — a per-unit price advertised at six units is not what one unit costs. And scope — "servicing" at one company means filters and a wipe-down, at another it includes the blower wheel, the drainage line and a cooling check. Compare what is actually done, not the headline figure.
- Is a chemical overhaul worth the extra cost?
- Only when the unit needs it. If a general service at $50 restores the cooling, that is the right spend. If the unit was cleaned recently and still runs warm or smells within weeks, the dirt is bonded to the coil and blower wheel where a surface wash cannot reach — then $130 for a full strip-down is the cheaper answer, because paying for a clean that will not work is the more expensive choice.
- How often should aircon be serviced in Singapore?
- Every three to four months for a home in regular use. Singapore runs air conditioners harder and more constantly than almost anywhere, and the humidity means the wet parts inside the indoor unit grow mould between services. Stretching to once a year is what turns a servicing job into an overhaul.
- Is there a call-out or inspection fee?
- For routine servicing, no — the price is the price. For a fault that needs diagnosing, the call-out is $50, and there is no charge at all if we carry out the repair.
- Does aircon servicing cost more for older units?
- Not for the service itself — an old unit and a new one are cleaned the same way for the same price. What changes is the chance of finding something worn while we are in there: a tired fan bearing, a silted drain, gas that has slowly leaked away. Those are quoted separately, before any work, and never added to the bill afterwards.
